Here at Legacy, our mission is to produce Kingdom-focused leaders who will impact our community for Christ. Donations assist in that mission. Your donation enhances the educational experience of students and helps slow the rising costs of education. Each donation—whether it’s your time or your money—is of great help to us. When you donate, you join other supporters, the alumni, parents, friends, faculty, and staff who are all dedicated to our mission and to continuing to provide educational opportunities.
Positions in Christian ministry are abundant and benefit our students, our alumni, and our entire community. Opportunities made possible as a direct result of an education at Legacy can change people’s lives, and can indeed impact our community, our state, and even our world for Jesus Christ.
Private support —gifts from Corporations, Foundations, Alumni, and friends of Legacy Christian University— is the chief manner in which our school has established itself as an institution. None of our budget is provided by the state or government. This enables our college to develop its own dimension of achievement by attracting the best students and faculty, providing funds for program improvement and facility enhancement, and securing monies for general expansion.
By giving to Legacy Christian University, you are providing support that will not only maintain the high Biblical integrity of our programs, but improve the quality and effectiveness the University needs to compete nationally.
What are the benefits for you?
Besides leaving a legacy for current students, you also are setting the trend for the future. At some point in your life, someone lent you a helping hand. There are students who need that help now. Your gift will help them to succeed and allow them to help others. Make a lasting impact! If you are interested in having a larger influence on the future of Legacy Christian University, there are multiple opportunities. Any gift you make is an investment, and most investment decisions include thought and discussion.
We invite you to participate in the future of Legacy!
How to Donate
The reputation and strength of Legacy Christian University depends on generous and visionary donors – alumni, parents, friends, retirees, corporations and foundations.
Through gifts at all giving levels, donors express their confidence in the philosophy, mission, and goals of Legacy and our community. Gifts to the college enhance opportunities for students, faculty, and other Legacy patrons.
Your gift to Legacy Christian University can take many shapes. Our professional development staff will be happy to assist you in finding the type of gift that best suits your needs.
You can allow your gift to be unrestricted in its use, or you may specify its purpose for a particular program or endowment fund. Unrestricted gifts are those which allow the college to use the funds with some flexibility. This permits the president to allocate the funds to programs, services, and students who are in need.
Most contributions qualify as charitable deductions through federal and state income taxes. Keep in mind, too, that charitable giving enables you to organize contributions in ways that maximize your personal financial objectives while minimizing your after-tax cost. All financial matters deserve consideration, so we encourage you to discuss potential tax advantages and other aspects of charitable giving with your attorney, tax advisor, or financial consultant. The following are the most common ways to give to Legacy:
Gifts of this nature can include cash, pledges, or property.
Increase the value of your contribution to Legacy by taking advantage of your employer’s Matching Gift program. Many employers will donate an equal or greater amount than you donated. Contact the Development Office to find out if your employer qualifies for a Matching Gift.
Making a gift to Legacy through your will, trust, or estate won’t cost you now, but will benefit the students of the future. Help support student achievements by designating Legacy as a beneficiary in your will. Explore the ways your gift can have the greatest impact by contacting the Development Office.
Donors may consider a gift of real estate or other property to Legacy. The university receives a wide variety of such gifts, including real estate, rare books and manuscripts, works of art, and equipment.
Another way to give to Legacy is through an In-Kind donation (a contribution of goods or services). Legacy can accept a variety of In-Kind gifts which could include artwork, supplies, equipment, real estate, advertising, computer hardware, and more. To determine if your donation qualifies, please contact the Development Office.
Rather than giving Legacy a cash donation, consider donating stock, bonds, or mutual funds. Such gifts often end up being more beneficial than cash after being held for a year because they provide special tax advantages. Donors may be able to claim a charitable tax deduction for the full fair market value of the gift and never have to pay capital gain taxes on the appreciation. To donate your stock, bonds, or mutual funds to Legacy, contact the Development Office.
Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees. If your company is eligible, request a matching gift form from your employer, and send it completed and signed with your gift. We’ll do the rest. The impact of your gift to our organization may be doubled or possibly tripled! Some companies also match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses.
Endowments help to acclaim student achievement and promote academic excellence now and in the future. Your gift is professionally invested and managed and the interest from the Endowments provides reliable, yearly funds for programs, services, and scholarships at Legacy.
Would you like to recognize and share the accomplishments of servants of Christ who have ministered with integrity and inspire students at Legacy to follow in their footsteps? Contact the Development Office to learn how your Endowment can make a difference today.
Endowments provide perpetual income for the college through investment of principal funds. These gifts may be unrestricted, providing for the greatest needs of the college, or restricted to a particular use. Endowments are established with a minimum of $30,000 through outright gifts, pledges paid over a period of years, deferred gifts, such as trusts or insurance expectancies, and through estate planning. The following are several types of endowments that can be established by alumni and friends to support quality education now and well into the future. (Minimum contribution shown.)
Endowed Chairs and Professorships aid in the recruitment and retention of outstanding faculty by generating income for salary supplements and teaching/research support.
Chair – $2 million contribution
Full Professorship – $1 million contribution
Term Professorship – $500,000 contribution
Endowed Scholarships or Fellowships are an important tool in ensuring that students have the equal opportunity to pursue quality education. Scholarships may be awarded based on need and/or merit.
Real Estate Gifts
Legacy Christian University will welcome your gift of real estate. Gifts of real estate can significantly enhance our productivity and performance and provide substantial tax benefits for you, the donor. Although Legacy would make good use of a unique property, most real estate gifts would be sold and the proceeds invested in areas of campus designated by the donor.
Although most gifts are given outright, many also fund charitable remainder trusts (CRT) that pay income to the donor or other beneficiaries designated by the donor. Legacy has an experienced professional staff to assist donors and their advisers who are considering gifts of real estate. Our procedures (both trust & non-trust) for accepting real estate gifts are simple, and our comprehensive real estate policy provides assurance that gifts will be handled professionally to achieve the benevolent goals envisioned by donors. If you have a property you are considering donating to charity, please call us to arrange a confidential evaluation of the property.

How you can give back…

Support the school you love by giving a building a memorable name or help programs, services, and students in need with an unrestricted gift. Contact the Development Office to find out how. Your unspecified donation helps students who need it the most, or you can designate your donation to a specific program that you are passionate about.
Support what matters most to you. Whether you choose to give to the University, a specific program, or to students, your contribution makes a difference at Legacy.
You can make a difference and it just makes sense; whether you fund an endowed professorship or fellowship, an individual department, or the general fund, your money will make a difference. Investing in the College allows you to take part in something you love, it gives you some ownership of your alma mater, and it helps create strong connections to campus. Don’t forget that a gift to your alma mater has tax and estate benefits.
What are Legacy’s greatest needs?
Professorships, Fellowships, Scholarships, improvement of facilities, technology support… the list goes on. Your degree is worth only as much as the reputation of the institute from which it was awarded. By investing in your college, you are cementing the foundation of education offered by Legacy, and enhancing its prestige.
Another way you can make a difference in a student’s life is to volunteer. You can donate your time to Legacy with opportunities such as allowing a student to minister in your church or organization, helping with registration or advising, mentoring students, or becoming a part of the Alumni Association, your help is appreciated.
There is more than one way to give back to Legacy. While monetary donations are always needed and accepted, public support in reaching out to perspective and current students, our community, and other alumni is invaluable. Volunteering is a great way to stay involved and support the college, its programs and students. To learn more about Alumni volunteer opportunities, click here.
By supporting Legacy you enable students to continue their education, maintain high quality programs, and provide opportunities for growth not only for students and Legacy, but also in the community.
