Who are we at Legacy Bible College
We are expanding our educational boundaries by networking with New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, sharing classes through distance learning technology. We also have agreements with other institutions to share credits and students, increasing the opportunities we can offer Legacy students!
Our mission is to “educate students to become kingdom focused leaders who impact their communities for Christ”. As we expand to offer additional degrees beyond our traditional biblical bachelors and masters degrees, we ensure that we tie everything we do back to our mission of educating students for Christ. Our vision is to be a model and catalyst for Christian leadership and to express both our character and quality through the affordability and accessibility of the education that we offer.
LBC believes that all areas of life are viewed through the prism of a Christian worldview. LBC considers itself blessed by God to be ranked among those institutions of higher education that develop, maintain and teach from a Christian worldview.
James W. Sire defines a worldview as “A commitment, a fundamental orientation of the heart, that can be expressed as a story or in a set of presuppositions (assumptions which may be true, partially true, or entirely false) which we hold (consciously or subconsciously, consistently or inconsistently) about the basic construction of reality, and that provides the foundation on which we live and move and have our being.”
Dr. Lee Hudson started the “Heritage Bible Institute” in 1979 with only 19 students pursuing a certificate of Bible! We have experienced a few identity changes with becoming “Heritage Bible College” in 1981 and incorporating the “Whitesburg Bible Institute” under the care of Dr. Jimmy Jackson, current pastor of Whitesburg Baptist Church. Recently in 2017 we have become “Legacy Bible College” with the intention of honoring the legacies of the visionary men and women who have built this college over the past 37 years.
Meet our staff members at our staff page. We have asked everyone to write why they are serving at LBC and why they would like to help you be successful here.
Our faculty have very diverse backgrounds and offer that experience in a growing number of programs to Legacy students. Meet the faculty here.
